TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa firefighters returning from a call were on the scene and ready to help when they saw an erratic driver cross the center lane and hit another car head on at about 2:30 Saturday morning.

Firefighters watched a black Impala driving eastbound on 31 Street towards Garnett hit the right curb then cross over into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes where their vehicle struck a gold Sebring. The firefighters immediately began extracting the victims in the Sebring, cutting off the roof of the car to get the couple out.

They also had to cut part of the doorway of the Impala to free those occupants.

Tulsa Police said the victims in Sebring were a couple believed to be in their 60s. They both sustained serious injuries but were expected to survive the wreck, according to Tulsa Police Sergeant Eric Nelson.

There were two men believed to be in their late 20s in the Impala that crossed over the center line. They were also taken to hospital with injuries but were not believed to be seriously injured.

There were no victim names available.

Tulsa Police believe alcohol was a factor in the wreck.
