PHOENIX, Arizona -- A Pryor mother was killed hundreds of miles from home and police say Tina Ferlet's 16-year-old son, Nathan, is the prime suspect.

Phoenix police say Nathan's mother and grandmother went to California to pick him up and get him help for mental problems.

But, as they were passing through Phoenix, Nathan's grandmother says he began choking his mother.

The grandmother stopped to get help when police say Nathan took off in the car and crashed it.

Phoenix Police initially thought the 41-year-old mother was killed in the crash.

However, after questioning witnesses, they believe the mother was strangled by  Nathan who was sitting in the back of the car.

Police still have a lot of unanswered questions, but say Nathan will be charged with his mother's murder.
