Dense Fog Blamed For At Least One Tulsa County Crash Wednesday

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The warmer temperatures early Wednesday morning caused dense fog across much of northern Oklahoma. That fog has already been blamed for at least one crash in north Tulsa County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the driver of a car lost sight of the road at 106th Street North and Peoria because of the fog and drove off the road and down an embankment striking a tree.

Troopers say 21-year-old McKayla Harper was headed home from work when she missed a slight curve in the road leading to a bridge.

Harper's car came to stop alongside Hominy Creek.

She called her mother and then 911. Harper's mother, Chrystal Probasco, explains how thick the fog was while to trying to locate her daughter.

"I had to stick my head out the window to see down the road to get here. It was foggy. I've never seen it this bad," said Chrystal Probasco.

McKayla Harper was treated at the scene for some minor injuries. Her car, however, is considered a total loss and will remain sitting by the creek until daylight and the fog has lifted.
