OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) conducted a sweep Wednesday, arresting 19 people accused of illegal drug activity.
A dozen state and local law enforcement officers headed out at 6:30 a.m., armed with 26 arrest warrants and three search warrants for people accused of distributing drugs throughout Oklahoma City. The investigation began in November 2010 and targeted people suspected of supplying marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, and prescription drugs to dealers and users in the metro.
"Many of these defendants are known gang members in Oklahoma City. Hopefully, this will send a strong and clear message that Oklahoma isn't a safe haven for drug and gang criminals," OBN spokesman Mark Woodward said.
The 19 defendants were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail. They faced several charges, including distribution of controlled dangerous substances.
