Longer Days Helping Green Country Students Make Up Snow Days

CLAREMORE, Oklahoma -- Starting Tuesday, the school day gets longer for students in Claremore.

From March 1, 2011 - May 20, 2011, classes will begin at 7:45 a.m. and won't let out until 3:15 p.m. They're making up for time lost because of this month's snow storms.

Tulsa Public Schools added 30 minutes to the end of their school day, beginning Monday, February 28, 2011. The district will also hold class on April 8, 2011, a day students were supposed to be off.

Union also added an extra 30-minutes to the end of the school day, starting Monday. The district also voted to extend the school year to June 1, 2011.

In Owasso, schools are starting class 15 minutes early and keeping students 15 minutes later.

Jenks, Bixby, and Sapulpa started their extended hours last week.
