TULSA, Oklahoma -- With lots of fans here for the NCAA Tournament, city leaders wanted to make sure getting around downtown didn't cause any problems for the locals or the out-of-towners.

Shuttles have been loading and unloading passengers at the BOK Center since the tournament began. On our rides around town Friday, we noticed most of the passengers are from right here in Green Country.

"We've been seeing them go by quite frequently during the day yes a lot of them, like one every 2 minutes it seems like," said downtown worker Indrek Redard.

A group of downtown Tulsa workers left the office and headed straight for the games, but they didn't really want to hoof it.

In fact, a lot of Tulsans are taking advantage of the buses. The passengers tell us they all parked their cars in favor of the free ride.

"They're real nice, they're clean they're neat you know just perfect," said Tulsa resident Robert Sprague.

Robert and his crew heard about the shuttles during the game Friday morning and used them to get a warm ride to dinner, then back to the action.

A shuttle worker says they've been seeing anywhere from 11 to 63 people an hour. Sometimes buses were just driving around empty

Laura Moss: "Have a lot of people been using the shuttles?"

Susan Acosta, Gray hound driver: "Not right now, some but not as many as maybe we were expecting."

Out-of-towners who are using the free rides say they think the shuttles are a great idea, and might be the best kept secret in town.

"I'm surprised more people aren't using the shuttle. It's very easy, "said a shuttle passenger.

So easy in fact that every Green Country citizen we spoke to says they would like to see the shuttles become a permanent addition to the downtown experience.

"A free shuttle around town during the day? I think it would be great to just hop on and go to other parts of downtown would be neat probably spur more business in blue dome and other parts of downtown," Redard said.
