Red Flag Fire Warning Issued For Much Of Western Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- With strong winds and warm temperatures expected in Oklahoma -- the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag fire warning for the western half of the state.

The weather services temperatures are expected in the 70s and 80s on Tuesday with winds from the southwest at 20 to 30 miles per hour and gusts of up to 45 mph.

A number of Oklahoma counties are under a burn ban [see map].

The warning is in effect throughout Tuesday afternoon from central Oklahoma westward to western north Texas.

The weather service said scattered thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon -- although the most will likely occur in eastern Oklahoma.
