ROGERS COUNTY -- Many of the 30 dogs rescued from a home in Rogers County Monday will go up for adoption Wednesday.

After the story aired on News On 6, many people wanted to know how to help.

The dogs went from living in filth and crowded conditions, with minimum food and water and only socializing with other dogs, to now, having a clean cage, plenty of food and fresh water in the Claremore animal shelter.

What they need now are new homes.

"We cannot move any dogs out until we can obtain ownership of the animals," Annette King Tucker, with Wild Heart Ranch, said.

The process has begun to get ownership of the dogs. Next, a vet will evaluate them and vaccinate and worm the ones that are fit for adoption.

"We certainly do not want to give someone a dog that's got emotional issues, a fear biter that's going to attack other pets or children, so when we evaluate these dogs, we have to be very picky," Annette said.

Annette hopes those deemed aggressive will be picked up by rescue groups and socialized so they don't have to be euthanized.

Don't be put off by the video of the dogs acting wild, most of them were just scared during the rescue operation and are docile. However, they are not used to being around people, minding, walking on a leash, things like that.

The one exception is an older chocolate lab, which loves people and is leash ready.

"We've got some very sweet dog, but they're looking for other dogs to claim them, so if there's another dog that likes other dogs, that's a good situation," Annette said.

No one will have to pay an adoption fee but anyone who takes a female, must prove within 30 days, the dog has been spayed.

The Humane Society U.S. is paying the vet bills, but there's no money to bathe and groom them; that'll be up to the new parents.

People can call and get on a list for adoptions or go to the Claremore Animal shelter beginning Wednesday to choose a dog.

Enough donations came in to house them for a week, so if there are dogs left over after that, additional donations will be needed.

Any rescue group who can take the aggressive dogs needs to contact the Wild Heart Ranch as soon as possible at 918-342-9453. You can also find regular updates at Wild Heart Ranch's Facebook page.
