I hope we are finished with Old Man Winter! I don't know about you but I'm ready for spring! It's a time for new life, new growth and new plans. Our schedules will fill up fast with kid's activities, work obligations, Easter and so much more.

But one thing you must put on your to-do list is get that mammogram! I'm reminding you since that's an important tool in finding early breast cancers.

The American Cancer Society continues to recommend women begin mammogram's at age 40 unless you have a strong family history. In that case, doctors suggest beginning those tests 10 years prior to the age the family member was diagnosed. For example, I was 41 so my daughter Rachel will begin her checks at 31. Also, if you don't have a family history, don't think you are immune. It's been reported 85% of women diagnosed with breast cancer have NO family history! That was me!

If you aren't sure where to go, talk with your OB/GYN or family physician. They are great resources and can help you.

Just in the last week, I've talked with three people who have been or have friends who've been diagnosed… women between 40 and 50. I know this news can turn your world upside down but it doesn't have to! There's help out there; lots of resources and you are welcome to contact me and I'll put you in touch!
