Sand Springs Musician Honored For More Than 70 Years Of Sunday Service

SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma -- A Sand Spring musician celebrated more than 70 years of service on Sunday.

Christena Martin has been playing the piano or organ just about every Sunday morning since the 1940's. Since then she's provided the music at literally hundreds of weddings, funerals and school band contests.

"She has really been an instrumental part of this church," said John Johnson, South Sand Springs Church of God.

"We're just real proud of her. She's a great lady, a sweet lady, and just dedicated to God. She's been a blessing," said Sally Knight, Martin's daughter.

Martin was honored in the service at Sand Springs Church of God on Sunday. She's been performing and accompanying the choir there for about 40 years.
