The EPA plan reduces pollution from three of Oklahoma's oldest coal-fired power plants.

It requires states to take steps to modernize pollution controls of older power plants to meet regional haze requirements.

The EPA says exposure to sulfur dioxide can cause respiratory problems like increased asthma and aggravate existing heart disease.

Thursday's meeting will be held at the Tulsa Tech, Riverside Campus in the Auditorium of the Alliance Conference Center at 801 East 91st Street.

Agenda:

  • 1:00 PM: Open House hosted by EPA
  • 3:15 PM: Press Conference
  • 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM: Testimonials from Oklahomans
  • 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM: Panel Discussion hosted by Sierra Club
  • 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM: Testimonials from Oklahomans

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt says he has told the EPA he will sue the agency if the rules are implemented in the state.
