TULSA -- Local churches, community groups and the Department of Veterans Affairs are trying to help veterans who've fought for our country but don't have a place to live.

Organizers set up an event in downtown Tulsa Saturday aimed at being a one-stop shop for veterans in need. Counselors helped veterans sign up for food stamps and other benefits. Volunteers even gave vets free haircuts.

Organizers say the event was a chance to reach veterans who may not come into a VA medical center for help.
