TULSA, Oklahoma – An elderly man was seriously injured when his truck was sideswiped by a car that ran a red light in downtown Tulsa Tuesday afternoon, Tulsa Police said.

Tulsa Police said the man was driving west on 7th street about 3:15 p.m. when he was hit by a driver headed south on Cincinnati.

Police said the collision caused the truck to flip, pinning the man inside. Officers said nearby construction workers who witnessed the crash helped free the man.

"We got him out of the seatbelt and got the steering wheel loosened off of him and kind of eased him out. We smelled gas so we figured we'd better get him out," one of the rescuer's said.

Police said the man was transported to the hospital in serious condition.  His name and age have not been released.

"You just see a guy that needs some help, you just help him. Didn't really think about it much, hope someone would help me get out," one rescuer said.

The driver of the other car was not injured, though police did plan to issue the driver a citation.
