TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Shock's Andrea Riley and NBA Hall of Famer Bob Lanier talked with students at Madison Middle School Wednesday.

It's all part of a national campaign to educate kids and their parents about vaccinations.

Organizers say less than half of all teens in Oklahoma are vaccinated against meningitis and whooping cough. So they told students how easily those diseases spread and how a simple vaccine can prevent serious health problems, even death.

"I think it's very important to know about vaccinations and keeping yourself healthy," Riley said. "I really don't like needles; I know it's hard, but I know it only takes just a second and it'll help you for the rest of your life."
