Tulsa Mayor Vetoes Resolution On Ouster

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett has vetoed a measure that would have directly impacted an investigation that comes out of the petition to remove him from office.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett has vetoed a measure to give the Oklahoma Attorney General access to information protected by attorney-client privilege.

The AG is handling an ouster petition against Bartlett, and the measure that he vetoed would have directly impacted an investigation that comes out of the petition. The City Council drafted the waiver of privilege.

In the veto letter, Bartlett wrote that the resolution had potential to "restrict proper protections" provided by the Constitution and would impact "a person's legal rights to speak freely and privately with legal counsel."

If the council chooses, it could vote to override the Mayor's veto.
