TULSA, Oklahoma -- It's been nearly three weeks since monster tornados ripped through the southeast, leaving death and destruction. Alabama was especially hard hit.

A Tulsa group is gathering relief supplies this week for victims in that state.

"People have been bringing anything," Cameron Peters, a volunteer, said. "Personal hygiene items, clothes, toys, school supplies. Just anything that the tornado victims need."

The drive was started by families in Tulsa with ties to Tuscaloosa, who hope to fill at least one semi-trailer with anything useful for people who lost their homes.

"I just feel like God laid it on my heart to do something; something tangible that my kids could be involved with," Allison Biggs said.

The supplies will be delivered to Tuscaloosa in a truck donated by John Christner Trucking.

The drive is being helped along by a family in the process of moving to Tuscaloosa.  Katie Howard's husband is already there and will help distribute what is collected in Tulsa.

"When you're actually there and you can see that it's not just streets in a neighborhood, perhaps even a whole neighborhood, it's neighborhood after neighborhood after neighborhood," she said.

The group is collecting supplies before and after school each day this week at Jenks East Elementary, 8925 S Harvard, in Tulsa.

The drop off times are 7-9 am and 2:30-6:30 pm through this Friday; Saturday 10 am - 2 pm; and Sunday 2-6 pm.
