TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Tulsa resident is in the hospital after waking up to a fire in the living room of her home Tuesday morning.

Tulsa Fire was dispatched to the home in the 1100 block of East 37th Street shortly after 6:30 a.m.

Firefighters say the 28-year-old woman was asleep on the couch when smoke and flames woke her up.  They say a chair on the floor furnace grate had caught fire.

The unidentified woman broke out a window over her kitchen sink to escape the home, before running to a neighbor's home and the neighbor called 911.  EMSA took her to the hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and cuts on her hands and arms.

Initially, firefighters thought she had been burned in the fire, but that turned out that wasn't the case.

There is no word on her condition.

Firefighters say the home did not have a smoke detector.

The fire was confined to the home's living room.

Two pets in the home were able to make it out alive as well.
