TULSA, Oklahoma -- CC's Cosmetology College has helped hundreds cut, color and style their way to new careers. Now the beauty school is facing a federal investigation that could blemish its reputation.

Federal agents served a search warrant on the school's east Tulsa campus Wednesday. An FBI spokesperson says it's part of an ongoing investigation into possible financial aid and mail fraud.

He wouldn't give any further details.

Oklahoma Impact's Jennifer Loren profiled CC's cosmetology school in 2009, because the school's students got a boost from federal stimulus money.

"Most of our students are fully funded, yes," Hallie Biggs said in 2009.

The stimulus pumped millions into Pell Grant programs, which paid the tuition bills for many of CC's students.

Chiquita Carter, who owns the college, has not been indicted nor arrested. But according to court records, she is having financial problems.

Back in March, an employee sued Carter for ten weeks of backpay. The case is still pending.

Carter was in court Friday because her landlord says she hasn't paid rent for her East Tulsa campus in three months. Court records show Carter owes them more than $17,000 dollars. That case is also pending.

Several calls to the college went unreturned. While the FBI says the college closed temporarily during the search, it has not shut down.
