GRAND LAKE, Oklahoma -- A tornado destroyed some homes in Oklahoma Sunday evening. A lot of the damage is near Grand Lake.

For people living in this area it may be hard to believe that a tornado struck this community but it has, and left a path of destruction behind.

Cliff Mitchell says a tree crashed on top of his wife's car when the tornado hit.

"We went in the bathroom and we heard glass breaking and heard a thump when the tree hit the car and came out and we saw off that way the funnel go over. It already went over our place," Mitchell said.

The tornado's fury, ripped trees from the ground, and threw them into several homes in the area.

Vehicles left outside were no match for the winds and the dents and broken glass proves it.

There are so many trees that have covered roads in this community and crews have their work cut out for them.

"You can't get down this road, the trees are just huge going across it. We've got a lot of houses that have trees on them, a lot of vehicles with trees on them," said Doug Smith, Delaware County Commissioner.

Commissioner Smith says he only has 13 crews working on storm clean up.

Even with the challenges of cleaning roads, the commissioner says he's pleased that no one in this area suffered injuries.

"Of course folks down here are in shock right now and we're just trying to help them through it," Smith said.

For Mitchell, he's not letting this storm get him down.

"We got insurance, things are just things, people are more important," he said.

People are on edge with any thought of having any more storms come through the area, but they say that they are going to definitely pay attention to the weather.
