NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Former Oklahoma Sooner softball standout Mariee Mena passed away Tuesday due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Friday.

While at OU, Mena was as a 2004 second team All-Big 12 selection and named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament team that same season. She was also a member of the Sooners’ 2007 Big 12 championship team and their 2003 and 2004 Women’s College World Series teams.

Mena is survived by her parents, Adam and Isela Mena, and three siblings, sister Mariesa and brothers Steven and Anthony.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Journey Church in Norman.
