AUSTIN, Texas -- The Cowgirls saw their 11-game winning streak end after losing to the Longhorns, 77-63 Wednesday night.

The Cowgirls’ 37 total turnovers hindered the team and gave the Longhorns an opportunity to score 21 points off the lost possessions.

OSU’s perimeter shooting also limited the Cowgirls. They made only 3 of their 12 attempts in the first half, and landed only 11 of their 29 attempts from inside the arc.

By halftime, Andrea Riley and teammate Tegan Cunningham had 11 points each, while Lakyn Garrison would add 5. The trio alone added to OSU’s score in the first 20 minutes.

With Riley’s 11 points, she became surpassed Byron Houston to hold the No. 1 all-time scoring record in OSU basketball. Having racked up more than 10 points, the game became Riley’s 76th consecutive game in which she scored more than 10 points.

The Longhorns’ Erika Arriaran came off the bench to supply Texas with 9 points by halftime, while her Kathleen Nash ended with 8.

The Cowgirls got off to another with quick lead in the second half, putting up 12 points. Riley had four assists just five minutes in.

The game was neck-and-neck until the midway point of the second half, when Texas took control of the lead and pressed ahead for the win.

Riley ended the game with 31 points and 7 assists, but turned the ball over a total of 8 times. Cunningham ended with 19 points for the Cowgirls.

The Longhorns’ Arriaran recorded 28 points for Texas’ bench, while Nash ended the night with 11 points and Brittainey Raven totaled 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The Cowgirls will travel to Boulder to face Colorado, Jan. 24.
