MANHATTAN, Kansas -- The Sooners just couldn’t keep up with the Wildcats in the first 20 minutes, but OU turned up the intensity and hustle to outscore Kansas State, 64-56.

No. 11 Oklahoma’s Danielle Robinson struggled in the first half, posting only 2 points. As one of the Sooners’ best scorers and team leader, Robinson’s offensive woes created a ripple effect throughout the team.

OU put up less than 20 points in the first 20 minutes, trailing Kansas State by 16 and ending the half 34-18.

Kansas State opened the half on a 9-4 run to extend its lead to 43-22, but then the Sooners rallied.

The Sooners’ bounced back and inched away at the Wildcats’ lead while playing tight defense and tough offense.

A layup by Stevenson brought a last-minute spark to the Sooners by igniting a 20-2 run that narrowed the gap to three midway through the half.

The Sooners took advantage of the Wildcats’ dwindling confidence by increasing the pressure to seal K-State’s fate.

Oklahoma (19-7, 9-3 Big 12) has won four of its last five while Kansas State (12-14, 4-8) has dropped five of six.

Stevenson led the Sooners with 24 points, six rebounds and two assists and steals. Amanda Thompson finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Kansas State’s A Sweat added 19 points and four rebounds for the Wildcats.

The Sooners host Nebraska Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
