SAN ANTONIO -- The Oklahoma Sooners will face the Stanford Cardinal Sunday, in a battle of quick offenses.

OU reached the Final Four for the second-consecutive year, despite losing the Paris twins and Whitney Hand.

The Sooners seemingly sneaked into the tournament, blazing past the first two rounds before narrowly escaping Notre Dame in an overtime thriller. The team’s hopes to advance were dashed early in its matchup against Kentucky, as the Sooner fell behind 17-4. They resurrected themselves to lead 43-39 at halftime and extended their lead after going on a 15-5 run in the second half.

The 88-68 win finalized their itinerary to San Antonio.

UConn enters the tournament with a 76-game win streak, Stanford went 35-1 this season, and Baylor is touting Brittney Griner, who averages 17 points per game and has racked up 218 blocks this season. The Sooners are the team under the radar, but the players said they can appreciate it.

“It seems like just the media have been focused on Stanford and UConn and Baylor,” OU’s Amanda Thompson said. “That just makes winning feel much more better.”

The team practiced for an hour in the Alamo Dome Saturday, adjusting to the new atmosphere. While there, Oklahoma’s Danielle Robinson was named to the State Farm All-American team.
