OU’s Danny Black Named Big 12 Player of the Week

The Sooners’ second baseman earned Big 12 honors Monday after helping his team win three of its last four games.

Norman, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma Sooners earned their second Player of the Week honor of the season Monday when second baseman Danny Black was named Big 12 Player of the Week. Jeremy Erben collected a Pitcher of the Week honor on March 8.

Black’s performance propelled his team to three wins in four games this past week. The junior went 8-for-15 at the plate and drove in seven runs. Four of those hits went for extra bases.

The award is the first for Black. The Roseville, California native has recorded 13 hits, four home runs and 18 RBI in his last eight games.

The Sooners will host the University of Arkansas- Little Rock Tuesday at 7 p.m. before beginning the Bedlam Series.
