Tulsa Shock Debuts to Oklahoma

Debuting for the first time ever in Oklahoma, the Tulsa Shock fell to the Minnesota Lynx 80-74.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma got its first look at the Tulsa Shock Saturday night, as the team debuted to a sell-out crowd, falling to the Minnesota Lynx 80-74.

Minnesota jumped out to an early start, ending the first quarter ahead by 10. The Lynx extended the margin to 16 points, but a string of turnovers helped the Shock rally back.

Amber Holt hit a jump shot, shifting the momentum as Tulsa battled back. Minnesota turned the ball over on the next play, as Natasha Lacey capitalized off the error, scoring a layup. The Shock hit a string of layups to bring the score to 34-32 in the final two minutes of the quarter.

Tulsa fought back as a sea of fans, donning yellow Shock shirts, cheered them on. Shanna Crossley hit a three with 40 seconds left in the first half to bring the Shock within one point of tying the game.

The Shock tied the game with a free throw, ending the half tied at 36-36. Tulsa’s momentum slowed in the third quarter, and Minnesota managed to work back to lead the game in the fourth. The Lynx created a 12-point deficit with seven minutes left in the game.

Despite working back to within six points of Minnesota, Tulsa dropped its first game. The Shock host San Antonio May 20 at 11:30 a.m.
