Tyler Saladino Named Summit League Player of the Year

The first-year Golden Eagle was tabbed as the top player and newcomer for the conference.

ELMHURST, Illinois -- Oral Roberts’ Tyler Saladino was named the Summit League Player and Newcomer of the Year Wednesday.

The junior shortstop led the conference in six offensive categories in his first year with the Golden Eagles. In Summit League games, Saladino hit for .491 and a .911 slugging percentage, with 50 RBI and scored 43 runs and to lead ORU to its 12th consecutive Summit League regular season title.

In the regular season, Saladino hit 71 RBI and 15 home runs in 48 games played, slugging .705 on the season.

Oral Roberts hosts the Summit League tournament starting Thursday, and will go for its 13th straight Summit League title.
