FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Davey O’Brien Award watch list was released Wednesday and two Oklahoma quarterbacks are named among the potential top signal callers in the nation; Oklahoma’s Landry Jones and Tulsa’s G.J. Kinne.

In 2009, Jones was called on to start in place of an injured Sam Bradford for all but three games, and subbed in for him during two starts. In his first year, Jones set freshman records for both passing yards with 3,198 and touchdowns with 26.

The Golden Hurricane finished the 2009 season in a less-than-desirable manner, but Kinne’s 268 yards and three touchdowns in the season finale against Memphis kept TU from finishing the season with a losing streak. For the season, Kinne amassed 2,732 yards through the air and 22 touchdowns, while adding five scores on the ground.

The O’Brien award, which honors the nation’s top quarterback, has been won by four Sooner quarterbacks, most recently by Bradford in 2008.
