What you need to know?

The Sooners were undefeated heading into their bye week, but still had plenty to work on. They spent their time off working on finishing games, which has been their biggest problem this season. They have been outscored 65-27 in the fourth quarter this season, leading to close calls in four of their five wins.

Despite those issues, OU is still sitting pretty in the Big 12 South. The Sooners are tied for first in the division and have finished the toughest stretch of their season after facing three ranked teams in their first five games.

Who to watch?

DeMarco Murray will be the man of the hour Saturday, sitting just two scores shy of Steve Owens’ OU record of 57 career touchdowns. The Iowa State defense is ranked last in the Big 12, so Murray has a legitimate chance of breaking the record in front of the home fans. Owens’ record has stood for 41 years.

On defense, the Sooners’ main task will be to contain quarterback Austen Arnaud. Arnaud is not a true running threat, but he is athletic and consistently buys himself extra time to throw. That will force the OU cornerbacks to hold their coverage for longer, something they struggled with against Utah State’s Deondre Borel.
