TULSA, Oklahoma – One by one, the University of Tulsa men’s basketball team members made their way out on to the Reynolds Center floor Thursday afternoon for media day. Dressed in bright, new, clean Tulsa home jerseys, the Golden Hurricane hoops squad smiled for the cameras.

It’s basketball season again.

“Year six,” head coach Doug Wojcik said, joking about his tenure. “(It’s) kind of hard to believe to some degree.”

Tulsa is celebrating 100 years of basketball this season and expectations are as high as they’ve ever been in this 'Centennial Season'.

“We’ve been working hard all summer,” said redshirt sophomore Scottie Haralson. “Hopefully, this hard work pays off and we can win games.”

Winning is already on the minds of Wojcik’s players. Conference USA is up for grabs, according to the head coach. Tulsa is ready to prove itself as a worthy contender for a league title.

“They’re itching to not only get to the postseason, which we’ve done the past three seasons, but get to the NCAA tournament,” Wojcik said of his players.

Senior guard Justin Hurtt agrees.

“That’s definitely our goal,” he said confidently. “We want to win a conference championship and make it to the NCAA tournament, and I feel like this might be the best chance, as a senior, that I’ve had.”

This season’s roster looks a lot different than in years past. The team is returning just two starters and has seven newcomers, including three redshirt players from last season.

The names on the backs of the jersey are different, and so are the words on the front.

The team sported new uniforms for its team picture. The home jerseys are all white with slim, yet wild blue and gold patterns running through the shoulders and down the legs. Blue ‘HURRICANE’ script stretches across the chest and is outlined in gold.

The road uniforms will be blue with red accents and gold ‘TULSA’ lettering across the front.

“It’s something new. It’s different from the traditional jersey we’ve had since I’ve been here,” said junior guard Glenn Andrews.

The Golden Hurricane begins its season at home on November 1st.
