IRVING, Texas—Oklahoma State linebacker Orie Lemon was named the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Week after his impressive performance in OSU’s 33-16 rout of Texas.

The senior from Houston Texas had 13 tackles in Saturday’s game including 10 solo stops and a huge quarterback sack for a loss of eight yards. Lemon ranks third nationally in solo tackles with 7.8 per game.

On the season, Lemon leads the Cowboys in solo tackles with 78, assisted tackles with 21 and total tackles with 99.

Oklahoma State now has seven Big 12 Player of the Week awards in 2010, including four offensive, two defensive and a special teams honor.

This is OSU’s second-consecutive week to receive the award, as quarterback Brandon Weeden earned the offensive honor last week.

The win over Texas helped the Cowboys hold on to their No. 10 BCS ranking entering this week’s road game against Kansas.

Oklahoma State will kickoff at 11 a.m. against the Jayhawks on FSN.

Lemon shares this week’s honors with Texas A&M’s Von Miller who recorded nine tackles in the Aggies win at Baylor.

Other Player of the Week honors this week went to Colorado’s Cody Hawkins, who is the Offensive Player of the Week, and Coryell Judie of Texas A&M who is the Special Teams Player of the Week. Judie set a school record for kickoff returns for touchdowns in back-to-back games with an 84-yard return for a score against Baylor and a 100-yard touchdown return against Oklahoma the previous game.
