NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Sooners snapped a five-game losing streak Thursday with a 71-58 victory over Gardner-Webb.

The Sooners (4-5) started the game on a 6-0 run and never trailed. They led by as much as 19 points, carried a 16-point advantage into halftime and coasted from there.

Steven Pledger led OU with a game-high 20 points and was one of four starters who scored in double figures. Andrew Fitzgerald scored 16, Cade Davis had 15 and Cameron Clark added 13. However, the rest of the team combined to score just seven points.

Gardner-Webb (6-6) shot 41 percent from the field and could not overcome 16 turnovers. Jon Moore led the Bulldogs with 16 points, while Luke David was the only other double-digit scorer with 10.

The Sooners’ victory was their first since Nov. 18, which was also their last game in Norman. They are now 4-0 at Lloyd Noble Center, but 0-5 away from it. Luckily for the Sooners, they will not have to travel again for some time.

Thursday’s contest was the first of a seven-game stretch during which OU will either play in Norman or Oklahoma City. The Sooners will host in-state foe Oral Roberts in their next game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
