NORMAN, Oklahoma--Monday after practice some of the Sooners gave their reaction to the news that running back Roy Finch will not play in the Fiesta Bowl game due to a stress fracture.

Finch, a freshman from Niceville Florida re-injured his left foot Friday at practice and Saturday he underwent surgery to insert two pins into his foot.

Finch will spend 6-7 weeks recovering but is expected to be ready to take the field again for OU’s spring practices.

This season in eight games, Finch had 85 carries for 398 yards and two touchdowns along with 10 passes for 49 yards.

The Sooners continue their preparation for the 2011 Fiesta Bowl this week until a small break for the Christmas holiday before leaving for Arizona.

The Fiesta Bowl will kick off Jan. 1 at 7:30 p.m. CT.
