Report: Tulsa’s Chad Morris is ‘top candidate’ for Clemson OC

TULSA, Oklahoma—Tulsa offensive coordinator Chad Morris is reportedly a ‘leading candidate’ for the same position at Clemson University.

On Monday, the website tigerillustrated.com, a top source for Clemson athletics news, reported a source familiar to with the process said Morris “arrived in town to interview for the position.”

Sunday, Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier and running backs coach Andre Powell were released from the program.

Almost immediately sources like footballscoop.com and tigerillustrated.com began reporting that Morris was “a top candidate” for the new OC vacancy and that current Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had “already talked with Tulsa offensive coordinator Chad Morris.”

Oklahoma Sports was told by Tulsa Sports Information Director Don Tomkalski that Morris is currently out on a recruiting trip but is expected back Thursday night.

This year under Morris’ leadership, Tulsa was fifth in the country in total offense with 515 yards per game and eighth in scoring at 41 points per game.

Morris was hired as TU’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in January 2010 after coaching on the Texas prep level for 16 years.
