STILLWATER, Oklahoma-- A sexual assault investigation involving two Oklahoma State men’s basketball players has been turned back over to Stillwater police for further investigation.

Payne County District Attorney Rob Hudson received the initial report from Stillwater Police Department Wednesday, Dec. 22, and upon his review and discussion with other investigators said “it has been determined that additional interviews with potential witnesses are necessary before it can be determined who and for what crimes that charges can be considered.”

“Some information came up that provided us with some people that might have some additional information we weren’t aware of,” said Stillwater Police Captain Randy Dickerson.

Since then, Dickerson says Police “have conducted a number of other interviews” and he expects the investigation to be “wrapped up and presented again next week.”

Because students at Oklahoma State University did not return from winter break until Monday, Jan. 10, Dickerson said police had to wait for the students to return to Stillwater before they could begin conducting the additional interviews.

The investigation stems from an anonymous letter that claimed three female OSU students were sexually assaulted at a party that occurred the weekend of Dec. 4-5.

“I think that the charging decision will focus on three people, two of which are OSU basketball players,” said Captain Dickerson after their initial investigation.

At this time no charges have been filed and no suspect names have been released.

“Detectives agree that thoroughness is paramount in an investigation of this nature, and to file charges without having interviewed all potential witnesses would be reckless and haphazard,” said Hudson.

Per a statement released in early December by OSU director of communications Gary Shutt, no disciplinary action has been taken against any of the players.

The Cowboy basketball team returns to action Saturday, Jan. 15 on the road against the Colorado at 12:30 p.m. CST.
