STILLWATER, Oklahoma— Oklahoma State University will honor the ten men lost in a plane crash ten years ago in a special halftime ceremony at the men’s basketball game against Texas Jan. 26.

The next day is the 10th anniversary of the tragic plane crash in Colorado that took the lives of ten members of the OSU family.

During halftime of the game Wednesday, former head coach Eddie Sutton and former players Andre Williams, Desmond Mason and Doug Gottlieb will be present to honor the ten men.

In addition to the halftime ceremony, Oklahoma State has also planned a private gathering for family members of the 10 men prior to the game.

During the game, proceeds from the annual “Remember The 10” run will be donated to OSU Counseling Services.

OSU has invited back former student-athletes, athletic staff, coaches and student workers who were part of the 2000-2001 team or whose years in Stillwater overlapped that team for the memorial ceremony.

Fans in attendance of the game will receive a unique commemorative T-shirt honoring those lost. The shirt will only be available at the game and will not be sold at any time.

On January 27, 2001 the OSU basketball team was returning from a game in Boulder Colorado when one plane crashed. The twin-engine Beech King Air 200 went down about 30 miles east of Denver during a light snow. It was one of three small aircraft carrying members of the Oklahoma State University basketball team and staff.

The men lost in the crash were Denver Mills, Nate Fleming, Dan Lawson, Jared Weiberg, Pat Noyes, Bill Teegins, Will Hancock, Brian Luinstra, Kendall Durfey and Bjorn Fahlstrom.

For the past nine years, a trio of current and former OSU employees has visited the crash site on the anniversary date.

This year, Dr. David Bosserman, OSU’s former Vice President for Administration and Finance, along with his executive assistant, Nancy Horner, and OSU physical plant director Rick Krysiak, will visit the crash site in Colorado. They will be joined by members of the Colorado emergency teams that responded in 2001 when the plane went down.

At 6:37 p.m. on Jan. 27, the OSU Library Carillon will once again toll 10 times in honor of each of those that have been lost.
