OKLAHOMA CITY—The Oklahoma City Barons fell to the Chicago Wolves 5-4 in a shootout Wednesday evening inside the Cox Conventions Center.

OKC returned to their home ice after a seven-game road trip and made quite the comeback to force a shootout. The Barons (25-16-2-5) came back from a two-goal deficit to tie the game, but were unable to come away with a win against the Wolves (25-20-2-3).

With Colin McDonald and Shawn Belle in the penalty box, the Wolves took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play early in the first period.

Later, Andre Deveaux scored at 6:58 on an assist from Paul Postma and Darren Haydar. Just one minute later, the Wolves’ Ryan Garbutt doubled the Chicago lead with a goal at 7:50 on another power play.

Teemu Hartikainen finally put the Barons on the board at 12:43 on a deflection pass from Milan Kytnar as the opening period ended with Barons trailing 2-1.

In the extra frame, neither team scored which forced a shootout. Chicago opened and scored with their second shooter, Michael Davies.

The Barons responded in the fourth round with a shot from McDonald to tye it up 1-1.

Neither team scored again until the 10th round, when Pettersson got one past Gerber. Chicago goaltender Drew MacIntyre stopped Ryan O’Marra to secure the 5-4 win for the visiting team.

Oklahoma City continues its five-game home stand this Friday against the Texas Stars at 6:05 p.m. CT. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under receive a special Barons practice-style jersey on youth jersey night.
