TULSA, Oklahoma – There wasn’t much that Kwame Sexton didn’t do while starring in high school for Holland Hall. The 5-foot-11, lightning fast touchdown machine was a blur on the field.

Sexton signed a national letter of intent on Wednesday, indicating that he wanted to play his college football for the hometown team: the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. He headlines a class that has tons of talent and seemingly endless upside.

“Kwame Sexton may be the best athlete in the bunch,” said Tulsa’s first year head coach Bill Blankenship.

Sexton scored 19 total touchdowns as a senior on offense and intercepted four passes on defense. The two-way talent will turn heads no matter what position he plays in college.

“He can play a lot of different places. Kwame was penciled in as a corner. I definitely think he can play there,” said Blankenship. “But, anybody that’s been around him as you watched him play knows that you have to be able to get the ball in his hands some. I think he’s a guy that can play a in a lot of different positions on the field.”

Blankenship likened Sexton’s talents to those of current Golden Hurricane standout Marco Nelson, who came to Tulsa after starring as a running back at Glenpool. The Tulsa coaches moved Nelson to safety, and he shined. He received a National Defensive Player of the Week award in November and was the only freshman on the Conference USA All-Conference first team.

“(Marco) played in the secondary but we also ran reverses with him and got the ball to him as a kick returner and punt returner,” said Blankenship. “I think Kwame brings a similar style and play making ability to us.”
