STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State Cowboys completed the series sweep of Cal Poly Sunday with a 7-6 win over the Mustangs.

Oklahoma State (6-1) got started early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

After back-to-back singles, Luis Uribe singled to center field to bring Gabe Weidenaar home from second to take a one-run lead. In the next at-bat, Jared Womack doubled to right field to bring home Uribe and Dane Phillips to extend the Cowboys’ advantage to 3-0.

The Mustangs (0-6) tacked on three runs in the fourth and sixth innings, but OSU added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Cowboys loaded the bases and Devin Shines doubled to left field to score three runs and take a 6-3 lead. Two at-bats later, Hunter Bailey doubled to left center to score Shines and push the lead to four runs.

Cal Poly’s biggest threat came in the top of the ninth. With the bases loaded and two outs on the board, Tim Wise hit a bases-clearing double to right center to close the gap to 8-7. But in the next at-bat, David Armendariz struck out swinging to end the game.

Josh Neilson (1-0) was credited with the win for OSU. The junior from Lawton pitched just one-third of an inning in his outing, retiring the one batter he faced. Joey Wagman (0-1) was credited with the loss for the outing after allowing four earned runs on two hits in just two-thirds of an inning pitched.

The Cowboys will play a home game Tuesday against Missouri State before heading to Tucson, Arizona for the Dairy Queen Classic.
