COLLEGE STATION, Texas – After averaging nearly eight runs per game over a six inning stretch, Oklahoma State seems to have gone cold.

The Cowboys couldn’t figure out their offense for a second straight day, dropping a 5-1 decision at Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to its matchup with the Aggies, OSU racked up 45 combined runs in the six previous games. After two games with A&M, OSU has scored three runs in the series.

Oklahoma State wasn’t impressive at the plate on Saturday, with its only run coming in unearned (Texas A&M had three errors in the game despite its easy victory).

Center fielder Gabe Weidenaar reached base and advanced to second on an A&M throwing error in the top of the third.

Right fielder Devin Shines doubled to bring Weidenaar home, but it was all downhill from there for the Cowboys.

The Aggies (28-11, 13-4) responded with a run of their own to tie the game in the bottom of the third, and for a couple innings OSU kept the game tight.

In the bottom of the sixth, however, A&M’s Matt Juengel scored on a single and Kevin Gonzalez found home plate on a single that shuffled several runners around before also ending the inning.

OSU gave up two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh as well to give the Aggies their final margin.

A&M took over the top spot in the conference standings with the victory, while OSU dropped a conference series for the first time in the past five series.

Aggies pitcher Michael Wacha got the win, while Randy McCurry got the loss for Oklahoma State. McCurry threw 1.1 innings, giving up two hits and two earned runs.

OSU (28-11, 10-7) will finish out the series at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday in College Station.
