TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Shock continues to add experience to their roster with the signing of former WNBA Finals MVP Betty Lennox Tuesday.

While with Seattle in 2004, Lennox led the Storm to a WNBA championship, averaging 14.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest, leading them to a title. Drafted in 2000 by the Minnesota Lynx, Lennox was named the WNBA Rookie of the Year, a WNBA All-Star and second-team All-WNBA in her first season.

“[Lennox] is a ‘been there done that player’ in that she has won in this league before,” General Manager and Head Coach Nolan Richardson said in a press release. “She brings veteran leadership and the experience factor and is a person who can score the basketball by playing both the point and off-guard position for us.”

Lennox played 11 games for the Los Angeles Sparx in 2011 before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. Before her injury, the Oklahoma native averaged 4.9 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest and is excited to be moving back home.

“I’m from Oklahoma, my family is a couple hours away so I’m excited to start a new journey with a new team,” Lennox said. “God has blessed me to be on several different teams and now it’s an opportunity to have my family come and watch me play.”
