OSU Grants Release to Jarred Shaw

Jarred Shaw has been granted a release from the Oklahoma State men’s basketball team.

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State head men's basketballcoach Travis Ford has announced that sophomore Jarred Shaw’s request to be released from the team has been granted.

“It’s important for us to put together a team that totally understands and accepts the challenges of competing every day and is committed to our program on a daily basis,” Ford said in a statement Thursday. “In order for us to get our team to where we want it to be, you go through situations like this.”

This past season, Shaw played in 26 games for the Cowboys and averaged 1.2 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. He scored a career-best eight points at Texas and grabbed a career-high five rebounds at Texas Tech.

“Jarred has worked hard since he’s been here,” concluded Ford. “We wish him nothing but the best and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

“We believe we have a group of guys who are committed and are working hard; players who are in it for the same reasons and have common goals,” Ford continued. “They have a desire to be their best every day. They are excited about the challenges of playing in the Big 12 and trying to win a conference championship.

Shaw, a 2009 graduate of Carter High School in Dallas, Texas, has not used his redshirt season and has two years of eligibility remaining.
