The best coaching move of the Thunder-Lakers series to this point was not OKC’s Scott Brooks assigning Kevin Durant to guard Kobe Bryant in the fourth quarter of game three.
It was not Los Angeles’ Phil Jackson’s decision to pound the ball to his big men in game five resulting in a 58-26 advantage in points in the paint.
It was coach Kobe Bryant telling Jackson that he wanted the challenge of covering Thunder guard Russell Westbrook in game five.
Westbrooks size and speed had been too much for Derek Fisher to handle and Jackson had been too stubborn to give someone else a chance at stopping Westbrook.
Now the Thunder must find a way to counter Coach Kobe’s move. Find a way to get Westbrook in the open floor and down the lane to create for teammates. If not, there will be no game seven in L.A.
Stat of the series: Jeff Green FG’s 17 of 58. 29%. I’ll bet he’s better than that Friday.
