Wanted:  Offensive Coodinator

Youll be in charge of the nations most high-powered offense.  At your disposal you will have the returning Biletnikoff Award winner and the 1st Team All Big 12 quaterback.

Whoever assumes this job will be like Charlie Bucket inheriting Willie Wonkas chocolate factory after Wednesdays announcements by Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon.

I doubt it was as easy for Blackmon to decide to return as it was for Weeden.  Blackmon would have been battling Julio Jones and A.J. Green for draft position.  Weeden is battling only father time.

Blackmon stands to be the top receiver taken in the 2012 NFL draft whereas this time around he would have likely been the third receiver.  Blackmon will be able to return to school, prove that hes more than a one-year wonder and, perhaps, improve upon his 40 time.

The 40 time will be the only knock on the talented Blackmon at the scouting combine.  Unless he gets injured or otherwise in 2011 like Dez Bryant did.  I stand behind the thought that Blackmon is a good kid who made a mistake on that early Tuesday morning late last October.

Weeden is 27.  Thats grandpa age for NFL quarterbacks.  Think about this...Ryan Leaf was the #2 overall pick in the 1998 draft and was out of the NFL by age 26.  Weedens stock isnt likely to fall much.  It might improve if the Cowboys can have a season like 2010.  Or if their new offense showcases his skills pulling away from center...NFL style.

Weeden is coming back because he likes playing at OSU and likes his teammates.  He can take a few classes, play a bunch of golf and play football.  What 27-year-old out in the real world woulndt want that?

The weapons are in place.  Now Mike Gundy has to hire a coordinator wholl help make Wednesdays decisions look like good ones.  And its hard not to have faith in Gundy with the coordinators hes hired in the past.
