Spring football opens Monday in Stillwater.  Our friends in the OSU Sports Information office have provided us with an early look at the Cowboys depth chart.  Here are some areas to watch as camp opens: Middle Linebacker:  Replacing Orie Lemon’s 133 tackles and leadership will not happen overnight.  Sophomores Caleb Lavey and Tyler Johnson will battle for that spot.  Lavey is listed as the starter.  Johnson is a mature former minor league baseball player. Outside Linebacker:  The Cowboys must also replace Justin Gent.  LeRon Furr and Chris Dinkins will vie for that spot.  Furr was contributing last season before being injured.  Dinkins is a converted receiver and safety. Defensive Tackle:  Perhaps the most wide-open position on the team.  Nigel Nicholas and Davidell Collins played last season.  Tahlequah’s Christian Littlehead is an intriguing prospect because of his size (6’3”, 332 lbs.).  Other defensive tackle prospects will arrive for the start of fall camp. Running Back:  Not that there is a problem there, but it will be fun to watch Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith get after it.  And freshman Herschel Sims arrives this fall. The offensive line remains remarkably intact.  There should be some good competition for playing time.  Mike Gundy said last year that the group of young linemen that the Cowboys have on the roster comprises the best group he’s had at OSU.
