ADA, Oklahoma (AP) -- A state lab has confirmed that a synthetic drug that led to the deaths of two partygoers and sickened six others is different than what it was initially thought to be.

Pontotoc County District Attorney Chris Ross says the drug wasn't 2CE3, which mimics the effects of Ecstasy, but a manmade drug known as Bromo-DragonFLY. That drug can have hallucinogenic effects.

Eight people attending a party May 7 at a Konawa house ingested the drug. Twenty-two-year-olds Anastasia Jewell and Andrew Akerman died.

Ross has charged 20-year-old Cody Weddle with second-degree murder for allegedly furnishing the drug. According to court records, bond has been set with restrictions, but a jailer said Weddle remained in custody on Wednesday.

His attorney, Rob Neal, didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
