TULSA, Oklahoma - A celebration of freedom is going on in Tulsa this weekend. Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the United States, and the festival is ongoing through Saturday in the Greenwood Historic District.
The Tulsa Drillers Friday night game is dedicated to the contributions of the Negro Baseball League, according to organizer Mary L. Williams with the Color Me True Workshops. The Drillers will honor the "T-Town Clowns" in a jersey salute to the former semi-pro team.
A number of the commemorative jerseys will be available in a silent auction. Proceeds will go to DVIS (Domestic Violence Intervention Services).
