Drinking And Driving Wrecks Keep Oklahoma Troopers Busy

UNDATED -- Drivers under the influence of alcohol kept Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers busy over the weekend. None of the wrecks involved fatalities.

Three-car wreck in Haskell County

Two of the drivers involved in a three-car collision in Haskell County were impaired by drinking, according to a trooper's report. The wreck involved three cars that were all going southbound on State Highway 71 just north of Enterprise at about 11:46 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers say the driver of one vehicle, 25-year-old Stigler resident Krystal Bryant, made an unsafe left turn into a private drive. At the same time, a second vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Gunnar Davis of Quinton, passed a third vehicle. His 1993 Dodge pickup hit Bryant's car which went into a roll.

Troopers say both Bryant and Davis had been drinking. The driver of the third vehicle was in apparently normal condition and was uninjured.

Bryant and one of the passengers in her car were taken to area hospitals with injuries. Davis and his two passengers refused treatment at the scene.

The cause of the collision is listed as driving under the influence of alcohol.

DUI racing causes wreck

Two drivers racing each other while under the influence caused a wreck at about 5:10 p.m. Saturday on State Highway 34 just south of Camargo in Dewey County.

Motorcyclist collides with deer

A motorcyclist and his passenger were hospitalized after a collision with a deer on U.S. Highway 271 about six miles south of Clayton in Pushmataha County.

Talihina resident Marion Zackarry Miller, 49, was driving northbound when a deer struck the vehicle, the collision report states. The motorcycle left the roadway and came to a stop in a ditch.

Miller, who troopers say smelled of an alcohol, was taken to a Talihina hospital in stable condition with head and arm injuries. Passenger Tonya Miller, 39, was also admitted in stable condition with head injuries.

No helmets were in use, troopers say.

Rollover In Grady County

A Guthrie man and his passenger were injured in a single-car accident Saturday just before 6 p.m. on County Street 2950 near County Road 1550 in Grady County.

Troopers say James Thomas, 35, was southbound in a 1988 Ford Ranger pickup when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. The truck left the roadway to the right and rolled over a complete time.

Thomas and passenger Debra Diede, 28, were taken by medical helicopter to Oklahoma City where both were admitted in serious condition with several injuries.

Troopers say the cause of the collision was driving under the influence of alcohol. Neither driver nor passenger was wearing a seat belt.

Okmulgee County rollover

A Drumright man and his passenger were injured in a single car accident at about 2 a.m. Sunday on State Highway 16, six miles east of U.S. 75 in Okmulgee County.

Troopers say 20-year-old Cameron Taylor apparently fell asleep behind the wheel. His 2000 Chevy pickup left the roadway and rolled one time, ejecting both Taylor and his passenger, 19-year-old Britney Chriss of Drumright.

Taylor had the odor of alcohol on his person, according to the trooper's report. He was admitted to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition with head injuries.

Chriss was treated and released at a Tulsa hospital for internal injuries.

Sand Springs man injured in wreck

A 22-year-old Sand Springs man is in critical condition following a one-vehicle rollover overnight Sunday, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
