PURCELL, Oklahoma -- An escapee from the McClain County Jail who was jailed on charges of murdering his girlfriend and her two children was captured Sunday evening according to the sheriff's office.

U.S. marshals found Shaun Michael Bosse hiding in a brush pile near a pond with which he was said to be familiar in Blanchard.  He surrendered peacefully around 7:45 p.m.

McClain County Sheriff Don Hewett said Bosse escaped about 10:20 a.m. when he attacked a deputy who had entered his cell and handcuffed the deputy to a door. He said Bosse then overpowered another jailer and  stole a black Grand Prix.  The car was later found in a parking lot near the Blanchard Elementary School.

Sheriff's deputies set up check points and searched cars driving through the area.

The Oklahoma City Police helicopter and an airplane from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were used in the search.

Bosse had been awaiting trial on three charges of first-degree murder and one charge of first-degree arson.

Police believe Bosse killed Katrina Griffin and her two children, 8-year-old Christian and 6-year-old Chasity of Dibble. He is accused of setting fire to the family's mobile home to cover up the crimes.

The murders took place in July of 2010. Bosse's recent trial date was delayed.
