WATERLOO, Iowa -- A member of the final graduating class of the O.W. Coburn School of Law at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa announced Monday she is a Republican candidate in the 2012 presidential race.

Michele Bachmann, an outspoken congresswoman and tea party favorite, formally launched her bid Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, where she was born.

Bachmann says voters "must make a bold choice if we are to secure the promise of the future."

ORU established the O.W. Coburn School of Law in 1979. In 1986, ORU gave its law library to CBN University, which is now Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

That same year, Bachmann received a J.D. degree from Oral Roberts University.
