TULSA, Oklahoma -- Measuring drag in a wind tunnel and preparing physics experiments typically aren't how most students spend their summer vacation, but a group of seventh graders is doing just that.

The middle school students were hand-picked to take part in an engineering camp all around Tulsa. Each day the students visit a different college and business with engineering programs.

"We're trying to open the students' eyes to see what's available and to make new connections and new friends and learn more about engineering," Susan Thompson, program coordinator, said.

The students built solar powered cars on Monday. On Tuesday, they will use their physics skills to launch rockets at the University of Tulsa.
